Featured: “Stang Skeleton” – Zeeshan Mohamed’s 2006 Mustang GT

Zeeshan Mohamed has always loved Mustangs, in particular the 1965-1968 Fastback models. So as soon as the S197 Mustang was released with styling cues similar to the first generation Mustang, he went out and got his hands on a black-on-black 2006 Mustang GT with every available option. “Stang Skeleton” was born!

Having previously modified his 2005 Cadillac Escalade, Zeeshan was no stranger to building a custom car. While he didn’t have anything specific in mind when he bought his Mustang, he quickly knew that he wouldn’t be keeping it stock. “I’ve always found room for improvement in any car I’ve driven,” he confessed. It wasn’t long before he got a feel for his Mustang and figured out what he wanted to change. The result is one of the cleanest (and meanest) Mustangs we’ve ever come across.

Standing out in the crowd

Despite its jet black paint, Zeeshan’s Mustang GT has no problem standing out in a crowd. Even among other Mustangs, the custom bodywork on this car attracts a lot of attention. The black paint is accented with painted taillights and dual matte black stripes running the length of the car, and the rear and side windows have reflective black limo tint. Less you think that the look was inspired by KITT, the GT500KR on Knight Rider, Zeeshan’s Mustang had its paint scheme long before the show ever aired. The front fenders have been replaced with custom hand-fabricated steel pieces that look great and are functional too. A rear-facing grille in each fender helps extract heat and keep cooling air flowing through the engine bay. Even more impressive is that Zeeshan had a hand in the design and production of the fenders. Graduating with a degree in engineering, he works at Automotive Dezignz in Los Angeles, CA, a company that produces custom premium automotive products. Zeeshan not only came up with the design for the fenders, but used his car to test them out as well. He did an excellent job in our opinion! The fenders blend perfectly into the Mustang’s bodywork and create a more aggressive look, all while adding functionality.

Another custom piece from Automotive Dezignz is the unique carbon fiber front splitter. The piece attaches to the bottom of a Classic Design Concepts aggressive chin spoiler, and utilizes stainless steel rods to support the splitter at high speeds. While Zeeshan didn’t design this piece, he did test various prototype versions to come up with the final version on the car. In addition to the custom bodywork, Zeeshan also added a Shelby CS hood, Agent 47 retro race mirrors, 3d Carbon headlight splitters, Roush rear wing, and a custom antenna delete.

Power to Match

While Zeeshan’s “Stang Skeleton” Mustang may have the aggressive look of a true modern muscle car, he also wanted it to have the power to back it up. While a turbo or supercharger is absent underneath the hood (for now), the 3-valve V8 has extensive modifications to make it one of the meanest naturally aspirated S197 Mustangs on the street. A Steeda cold air intake system helps increase airflow to the engine, and an SCT Livewire tuner makes sure that the air and fuel is delivered correctly. A full exhaust system including JBA long tube ceramic-coated headers, Bassani x-pipe, and Bassani axle-back exhaust system create a wonderful sound from the 4-inch rolled tips in addition to the additional power. Steeda underdrive pulleys and a Meziere electric water pump add a few extra horsepower as well. A heavy duty one-piece aluminum driveshaft and 4.10 gears help transmit the power to the road more effectively. Overall, Zeeshan’s Mustang puts out 327 rwhp and 326 rwtq.

A car for the curves

Wanting to build an all-around performance car, Zeeshan spent considerable effort in upgrading his Mustang’s suspension and brakes. Tokico adjustable shocks and struts are matched with Eibach Pro Kit springs that provide a lowered ride of approximately two inches. Steeda front and rear sway bars prevent excessive roll around corners, as does the adjustable panhard bar. A Baer 14-inch brake system handles stopping duties up front, and cross drilled and slotted Baer rear discs accomplishes the task in the rear. Nitto NT555 tires, 255/35/30 front and 275/35/20 rear, wrapped around black 20-inch Boss Motorsports wheels ensure that there is a sticky contact patch with the pavement.

Endorsed by the legends

The interior is simple and functional. An Eclipse navigation and DVD player fits cleanly into the dash, as does the red “Engine Start” button above it. Dynamat sound-deadening material throughout the interior and trunk helps keep the sound of the exhaust relegated to outside the car. Zeeshan also added a rear view back up camera to compensate for the smallish Agent 47 mirrors, and a hardwired Passort Escort radar detector for obvious reasons. Perhaps the best feature of the interior, however, are the signatures that can be found throughout. The headrests have been signed by Steve Saleen and Parnelli Jones, while the dash has been graced by the pen of Jack Roush.

Forced Induction Future?

While it can sometimes be hard for a black car to stand out, Zeeshan has definitely done just that with his Stang Skeleton. The impressive part is that it has been done without going over the top. The subtleness of the car only adds to its aggressive look that is backed up by the bark of the exhaust. Possible future plans for the car could include a twin-turbo system, which will only add to the car’s appeal. In the end, we would trust Zeeshan’s judgment with whatever future modifications he has for Stang Skeleton. If his current car is anything to go by, we will undoubtedly like it.
