Ford Mustang Sets New Record at Pikes Peak Hill Climb

With the addition of nearly two extra miles of pavement at this year’s Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, many people were expecting the overall course record to fall. While that didn’t happen, several other records were broken, including one by a Ford Mustang driven by Clint Vahsholtz. The Woodland Park, CO native drove the course in 11:33.320, breaking the sixteen year old mark of 11:39.17.

2011 V6 Mustang averages 48.5 mpg during 1000 lap challenge

The 2011 Ford Mustang, which made history when it became the first car ever to deliver more than 30 mpg and 305 horsepower, has set a new record by running 1,457 laps at Bristol Motor Speedway while averaging 48.5 mpg.

Roush releases first photos of 2011 Stage 2 Mustang

Roush has released the first photos of the 2011 Stage 2 Mustang. The car uses the new 5.0-liter engine from Ford and features new suspension tuning including a wheel hop reduction kit.

Video: DiabloSport previews tuning program for the 2011 Mustang

DiabloSport has been hard at working developing a tuning program using their Trinity programmer for the 2011 Mustang, and the company has released a new preview video as a teaser for what’s to come. Their baseline testing yielded 370 horsepower @ 6600 rpm and 329 lb-ft torque @ 4400 rpm at the rear wheels using 93 octane. DiabloSport has yet to release official numbers, but a post-tune dyno test shows 392 horsepower and and 377 lb-ft torque at the same rpm’s. You can see the results in the video below.

Video: First 2011 Mustang breaks in the 9′s

The 2011 Mustang has proven its worth on the track perhaps quicker than any other Mustang in history. The eleven and ten second barriers were broken just days after the 2011′s hit showroom floors, and already a Mustang has achieved a nine second time slip. The Mustang was built by Strictly Performance of Houston, TX and driven by Richard Lelsz. No information was given about what modifications were done to the car, but there’s video proof of the 9.96 sec @ 137 mph run. You can watch it below.

SMS Supercars releases new photos of 2010 460 Mustang

SMS Supercars has released a new set of images of their 2010 offering, the 460 Mustang. Just 25 will be built this year, each featuring a supercharged 4.6-liter V8 putting out 470 horsepower and 460 lb-ft torque, 20-inch wheels, a sport suspension, as well as the company’s signature design features both inside and out. For those willing to wait, the SMS 302 Mustang will be available soon with the new 5.0-liter V8.
