For the first annual Monterey Motorsports Reunion at Laguna Seca in Monterey, the event organizers selected Trans-Am to be featured among the eighteen classes of race cars. No less than 44 original Trans-Am cars from 1966 to 1972 took the track this past weekend including sixteen Mustangs. Legendary cars like Parnelli Jones’ championship-winning 1970 Boss 302 Mustang, plus Mustangs originally driven by George Follmer and Dan Gurney competed in an eight lap race on Saturday.
Fortunately it was a Mustang that came out on top, with a 1969 Mustang driven by Bruce Canepa taking the checkered flag. MustangsDaily.com was in attendance at the race, and has dozens of photos from the track and in the pits. You can see them all in the gallery below.
