Evolution Performance 2011 Mustang 5.0

Evolution Performance has been on the forefront of modifying the 2011 Mustang since it first hit showrooms in the Spring, quickly reinforcing their reputation for building some of the fastest Mustangs in the country. The company’s R&D car was one of the first Mustangs to break into the 10s with just a few modifications, and since then they have been searching for even faster time slips.

Earlier this month Evolution Performance was on a quest to have the first 8 second 2011 Mustang. At the NMRA Finals in Bowling Green they came incredibly close, running a 9.1 @ 151, while also pulling off an incredible wheel stand. While they couldn’t compete the rest of the weekend due to damage to the car, there was no doubt that they would be back at the track as soon as possible to get that elusive 8 second time slip.

Back on the East Coast, Evolution Performance headed to Atco Raceway in New Jersey earlier this week to try once again. Their first run resulted in the fastest pass yet in the car, a 9.02 @ 148 mph, but not quite fast enough.  The next run, however, made the Evolution Performance 2011 Mustang officially the first one in the 8s with a time of 8.89 @ 147 mph. You can see a list of complete modifications to the car as well as a video of the record-breaking run below.
