We usually don’t see too many modern cars carry high bids at Barrett-Jackson, simply because they haven’t cemented their status as a collector’s item. There are exceptions, though, like lot 428, a custom 2011 Mustang built by Auto Art Studio in Prescott, AZ. The modified pony car netted nearly six figures on Wednesday evening, with the proceeds of the sale going to charity.

While the generosity of the bidders at Barrett-Jackson surely helped raise the bidding, the car did boast quite a few impressive modifications. Items like the Kenne Bell supercharger, Cervinis body kit, Eibach coilover suspension system, Baer brakes and custom interior surely enticed bidders as well. 2011 Mustang GT 5.0 develops in excess of 550hp. It has Cervini body moldings, a Kenne Bell Supercharged high performance engine package backed by a 6-speed close ratio manual transmission, a Centerforce clutch multi disk high performance clutch assembly, Baer brakes multi piston calipers on the front and large competition disks all around, Eibach coilover shock suspension, Budnik custom wheels designed and cut specially for this particular car. It has competition series Falken tires. The car has a Polk Audio stereo system with satellite radio and SYNC. Engine boost and fuel air mixtures are measured on Autometer gauges. The car has been completely repainted with graphics embedded in the paint and special brushed steel effects racing stripes. The interior has been customized with leather and suede finishes. Auto Art Studio in Prescott, Arizona designed, developed, set up and customized this car. This is a new Mustang with less than 150 actual miles on it. The car was a showcase car at the 2010 SEMA show in Las Vegas. The car was developed using as many Arizona based companies as possible to aid the economy of Arizona and its workers. Proceeds benefit the Bennett’s House, a place where parents experiencing the trauma of having a newborn in the Neonatal Intensive Car Unit of Scottsdale Health Care North can go for comfort and support.
