Video: Edelbrock supercharges the Mustang’s 5.0L V8 and makes 600 horsepower on the dyno

Edelbrock first showed off their new E-Force supercharger system for the 2011+ Mustang GT at SEMA back in November, but at the time they didn’t announce any horsepower numbers. While Edelbrock still hasn’t stated anything officially, their latest video showing a blown 5.0 on an engine dyno gives us a better idea of what the E-Force is capable of on the Coyote V8.
Fitted with the upgraded 3.5-inch pulley kit (part #15820), the supercharged V8 put out just over 600 horsepower and 524 lb-f torque at the flywheel. That’s pretty impressive, …

Video: JPC Racing makes 500 naturally aspirated rwhp with a 2011 Mustang

Up until now most of the highly modified 2011 Mustangs we’ve seen have used some sort of power adder, from twin-screw and centrifugal superchargers to turbochargers to nitrous. The results have been impressive, with an otherwise stock supercharged Mustang netting a low 11 second 1/4 mile pass, and more highly modified cars achieving 9 second and even 8 second 1/4 mile runs.
But how far can the 2011 Mustang go naturally aspirated? The guys over at JPC Racing of Millersville, MD were determined to be one of the first to find …

Ford Racing announces the 2012 Mustang Competition Roller

For those drag racers that wanted a Cobra Jet Mustang but either couldn’t afford it or wanted to run their own drivetrain combination, Ford Racing is offering an alternate solution – the 2012 Mustang Competition Roller. Using many of the proven components of the Cobra Jet, the Mustang Competition Roller is sold without an engine and transmission to allow customers to choose their own NHRA-approved combination such as Ford Racing’s pushrod 352, 428, or 3-valve 4.6L V8. Just 25 2012 Mustang Competition Rollers will be built, all in Winner White, …

The 2012 Mustang gets its own iPad app

If you’re one of the 15 million people that bought an iPad in the last year, then you’ll definitely want to check out the 2012 Mustang app. Released by Ford earlier this month, the 2012 Mustang app allows you to views pictures, watch videos, view specs, request a price quote and even find parts through Ford Racing and Ford Accessories. Video: 2012 Mustang Boss 302 makes 416 rwhp on the dyno

Well that didn’t take long. Just a few days after Ford let journalists loose with the 2012 Mustang Boss 302 at Laguna Seca, someone’s already put one on the dyno to see just how much power the massaged 5.0L V8 is putting out. So how did the Boss do? According to Inside Line, who did the test, the car put out 416 rwhp @ 7550 rpm and 355 rwtq @ 5250 rpm. That roughly translates to 478 horsepower and 408 lb-ft torque at the flywheel, well above the official numbers …

Photo Gallery: 2012 Mustang Boss 302 lineup

There were plenty of good photo opportunities at the 2012 Mustang Boss 302 media drive earlier this week, none more so than the beautiful lineup of American muscle you see here. Ford had no less than sixteen Boss 302s lined up to greet journalists in the paddock area of Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, and they were even kind enough to organize them by color, showing off every available paint scheme from Yellow Blaze to Competition Orange.
We spent a good half hour photographing the historical sight, knowing that we’d probably never …

Jeff Seaman, Mustang powertrain engineer, tells us everything you need to know about the TracKey

Undoubtedly one of the coolest things about the 2012 Ford Mustang Boss 302 is the TracKey. This exclusive feature of the Boss 302 utilizes a dual-path PCM to allow for the car to be operated in normal mode with the standard key and in TracMode with the TracKey. It’s an industry first, and proof that Ford’s engineers have the enthusiasts in mind when it comes to the Mustang.
Since its release Ford has been somewhat vague about how TracKey exactly works and how owners will be able to use it, so …

Ford releases new photos of the 2012 Mustang Boss 302

Ford released plenty of photos of the 2012 Mustang Boss 302 when they first debuted the car back in August, but we could always use more, especially of all the different colors. Ford has more than obliged, and has released dozens of photos of the 444 horsepower pony car coinciding with the media drive in Monterey, CA. The new images show both the standard Boss 302 and the Boss 302 Laguna Seca in action both at Ford’s Michigan Proving Ground as well as at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. The pictures …
