Shelby to unveil 2012 GT350 at the Chicago Auto Show
Today Shelby announced that they will reveal the 2012 GT350 at the Chicago Auto Show this week. Few details were given about what the differences will be from the 2011 model year, but we’re told that there will be changes. This is the statement Shelby released:
Shelby American will unveil the exclusive 2012 Shelby GT350 during its press conference at the Chicago Auto Show. Don’t miss the opportunity to witness the return of one of Shelby’s most historic vehicles with presentations by Shelby President John Luft and Test Driver Gary Patterson.
So what could be in store for the 2012 GT350? One might assume that an updated model would include performance upgrades, but the GT350 is already one of the quickest and best handling Mustangs on the market. Plus, offering more than the optional 624 horsepower would either reduce reliability or increase the cost of the car dramatically. So what does the GT350 not have? For starters, it only comes in one color. Shelby could offer a variety of paint options for those that don’t want white with blue stripes. There’s also one major thing missing from the GT350 lineup. A convertible. Adding a drop-top model would be easy to built and would bring in potential new customers.
Of course, we can’t say for sure what Shelby will unveil come Thursday, but MustangsDaily.com will be reporting live from the Chicago Auto Show to bring you all the details of the 2012 GT350.
