2013 Shelby GT500

With the 2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 on the way it looks like Ford will be upping the ante once again with the 2013 Shelby GT500. According to Car and Driver, next year’s GT500 model could receive more than 600 horsepower thanks to an increase in displacement up to 5.8 liters (around 351 cubic inches),  and the use of Eaton’s TVS supercharger system in place of the M112 unit.

Along with the new engine the 2013 Shelby GT500 could also receive some minor styling changes. Car and Driver says the car will “sport a body altered with the goal of looking somewhat less retro and more modern and edgy, according to sources.” Head over to Car and Driver’s web site for the full story along with some spy photos of a Shelby GT500 powertrain mule.
