2013 Mustang Bullitt rendered

2013 Ford Mustang Bullitt

We haven’t heard any news about an upcoming Bullitt Mustang, but that didn’t stop TopSpeed.com from coming up with a rendering of what one would look like. The web site has slathered a 2011 Mustang in Dark Highland Green and given it the full Bullitt treatment with a dark, badgeless grille, vented hood, dark charcoal wheels, a revised front fascia and rear 3/4 window slats.

So is a 2013 Mustang Bullitt possible? Ford has just finished launching the 2012 Mustang Boss 302, and with a new Mustang coming in 2014, that leaves little room for another model in between. Still, Ford has made a habit of introducing special edition pony cars nearly every year, and those who don’t want the in-your-face styling of the Boss 302 would appreciate a more subtle ‘Stang. There are surely plenty of people who would line up for a new version of the Bullitt, and if it’s anything like the last one, we’d gladly welcome it to the Mustang lineup as well.

As an owner of a 2008 Bullitt – a terrific car in every way – I would say the “Bullitt” treatment on the current Mustang GT would not evince the same connection to Steve’s ’68 GT. The ’08 is sharp angled, whereas the current ‘Stang has a softer, rounded look. Great car, there’s no doubt. But it would not resemble the ’68 as closely as the ’08 Bullitt.

I’d be happy if Ford would just produce a tasteful green as a color choice on the base cars — highland would be great — instead of the snot green and puke green they seem to keep coming up with. And grey needs to make it back into the 2013 lineup for the Mustang as well. We’re not all 18.

for it matters to some that the tech specs of the 302 are quite awesome i have driven both cars(bought my bullitt new in 08) installed an air raid air filter and that made a BIG difference in the performance… i think the weight difference between the boss and the bullitt has to be considered also… bullitt is not as heavy, runs VERY GOOD and is not that much slower… i was going to buy a boss then drove it and was a little disappointed.
