Ford Mustang sales have been less than stellar over the past couple years, with many months having seeing record lows. In 2010 the Chevrolet Camaro actually outsold the Mustang, the first time in almost two decades, and this year hasn’t started much better with 3,165 Mustangs sold in January and 3,697 sold in February.

Things are looking up, though, and Ford was able to move 8,557 Mustangs in the month of March. That’s a 46.8% increase over March of 2010 and a 131.4% increase over last month. The uptick in Mustang sales was only a part of Ford’s success in March, which are up 19% from the previous year. The Fiesta, Fusion and Escape set monthly sales records, and the new Ford Explorer saw a massive 111% increase from 2010.
