Joe Foster proved once again Friday he is the driver to beat in qualifying at Barber Motorsports Park. For the third time in four years, Foster will lead the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge to the green flag at Barber in his Ford Mustang Boss 302R, following his near record performance in a 15-minute Grand Sport class qualifying session. Saturday’s two-and-a-half hour Barber 200 will start at 11:30 a.m. CT.

Driving the No. 15 Ford Racing/Multimatic Motorsports Ford Mustang Boss 302R, Foster posted a best lap at 85.443 mph (1:36.906), just a few ticks slower than his Barber GS track record of 1:36.876 set last year. It was his seventh career pole position in the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge, and Foster will share the No. 15 Mustang with Scott Maxwell in Saturday’s race.

“Honestly, it was the luck of the draw,” Foster said. “Basically, I got one clear lap at the start and only did two laps. We usually do well here when we start from the pole, so tomorrow looks good for us.”
