Comp Cams 2011 Mustang 5.0 Camshafts

Comp Cams first showed their new billet hydraulic roller camshafts for the 2011+ Mustang 5.0 at SEMA and released official details late last year. Since then many Mustang owners have been eagerly awaiting the day that Comp Cams would starting shipping the production versions, and it looks like that time has come.

Brenspeed, one of the leading Mustang performance shops in the country, got their hands on the very first set of production NSR camshafts for the 2011+ Mustang and immediately installed them on a Saleen S302 with impressive results. The dyno test shows a peak gain of more than 38 rwhp (390.36 up to 429.01) and up to a 49 horsepower gain at 6900 rpm using Comp’s Stage 3 cams for naturally aspirated engines. It looks like the cams don’t provide too much improvement below 5,000 rpm – the dyno showed just an 8 rwhp improvement at 5200 rpm – although that quickly jumped to 26 rwhp at 6200 rpm and 35 rwhp at 6500 rpm.

You can see a video of the dyno run with the results below:
