The Roush Performance Mustang Boss 302R added to their 2011 points total in Grand-Am’s Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge with a solid second place finish at the Road America 200 yesterday. This was the sixth consecutive podium finish for drivers Billy Johnson and Jack Roush Jr.

Johnson said that just finishing the race took a lot of patience and some strategy as well. “We were going two-wide frequently and then three wide,” he said after the race. “Battling like that with that much time remaining wasn’t really the smartest thing to do, strategy-wise. I was looking to sit back, cool everything down and then pounce at the right moment. Sometimes that works out, but unfortunately, it didn’t go our way tonight.”

The second place finish at Road America puts the No. 61 Roush Performance Mustang Boss 302R second in the overall standings, 15 points behind the BMW of Bill Auberlen and Paul Dalla Lana.
