After a weak start to the year, Ford Mustang sales continued to stay strong in the first month of the summer. The Mustang recorded 8,835 sales in June, besting the previous top month, March, by more than 400 units. The number fell short of Mustang sales in June of last year, however, which totaled 8,974. So far overall sales for the year trail just behind 2010, 39,041 compared to 40,035.
While it might just be for bragging rights, Mustang fans will be glad to know that their favorite pony car outsold the Camaro for the first time in 2011. After besting the Mustang for the first five months of the year, the Camaro trailed its Ford counterpart by 349 units despite the recent introduction of a convertible model.

I’m proud to say that I bought my 2011 GT/CS in June and I absolutely love it. When Chevrolet said they were going to build the Camaro back in ’06 I said I was gonna buy one. I waited and waited and finally drove one in ’09 and thought it was bad ass. Then I began hearing about the 5.0 Ford was working on in 2010. I had driven the 4.6 2010 GT and liked it better than the Camaro but was unhappy about the power difference. I waited for the 5.0 to come out and that was the best decision I could have made. Hands down it blows the Camaro away. I like the look, handling, power delivery, visibility (Camaro is 2 thumbs down here), transmission (6spd auto), and interior way better than the Camaro. I also considered the Challenger and 370Z but all fell short.
