Vaughn Gittin Jr's 1969 Mustang RTR-X

We got our first look at Vaughn Gittin Jr’s 1969 RTR-X Mustang at SEMA last year, and it was undoubtedly one of our favorites cars at the show. The unique styling, beautiful Coyote 5.0-liter V8, and the pure functionality of the components make for an excellent combination. Earlier this year we had the opportunity to see Vaughn take the RTR-X out for the very first time at Willow Springs Raceway, proving that his custom ‘stang is indeed not just a show car.

To show just how much planning and hard work went into building the RTR-X, SpeedHunters.com and Team Need for Speed have released a video showing the development of the car from when it was first conceived at SEMA in 2009 to when Vaughn Gittin was able to drive the car for the first time. The video has interviews with Gittin, designer Andy Blackmore, and builders Mark and Eric Zozeluh of Twins Turbo Motorsports, all of whom give insight about how the RTR-X project came to life. Of course, there’s some great footage of the RTR-X in action as well. Turn up your speakers and check out the video below.
