Boss 302R Mustangs took the top two qualifying spots for this weekend’s Continental Tire Sports Car Championship race being held at Mid-Ohio. The No. 37 JBS Motorsports Boss 302R (pictured above) set the fastest lap in the qualifying session with a time of 1:31.223 with driver James Gue behind the wheel. Following close behind in second place was the Boss 302R o f Multimatic Motorsports, with Joe Foster recording a best time of 1:31.375.

The race at Mid-Ohio is the last of the 2011 season, and currently the No. 61 Roush Performance Mustang Boss 302R of Jack Roush Jr. and Billy Johnson is in second place in the overall standings. The Roush team qualified 11th for tomorrow’s race, but needs to make up 16 points to surpass the No. 96 Turner Motorsport BMW M3 in first place. If the Roush team can manage to win this weekend’s race, they will need the leading BMW to finish no better than 12th to win the championship.
