Roush Performance Mustang Boss 302R

The No. 61 Roush Performance Mustang Boss 302R needed a strong finish and some luck at this past weekend’s Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge race at Mid-Ohio for a chance at winning the season championship. Drivers Jack Roush Jr. and Billy Johnson provided the strong finish by taking the checkered flag in second place, but luck didn’t fall their way as the leading BMW team earned enough points to win the championship.

The Roush Performance team had one of the quickest cars throughout the season, with the No. 61 Boss 302R consistently finishing on the podium. After a disappointing start to 2011 with a DNF at the season opener at Daytona Speedway, the Roush team earned a top three finish in six of the next nine races including wins at Virginia International Raceway, Watkins Glen and New Jersey Motorsports Park. The Multimatic Motorsports team also added to the Boss 302R’s tally with a victory at Barber Motorsports Park.

The Roush Performance team and the other Boss 302r Mustangs will next hit the racetrack in October for the test days at Barber Motorsports Park followed by another test session in November at Daytona.
