Barrett-Jackson 2012: 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429 sells for $247,500
There are two Boss 429s going up for auction at Barrett-Jackson this weekend, the first is this 1970 model painted in Grabber Blue. The car has been completely restored to like-new condition using all correct parts. The final selling price of $247,500 is the most of any Mustang at the auction so far, although we still have several really nice Mustangs yet to go.
Summary: A very detailed, nut and bolt restoration was done by trained craftsmen. A correct and numbers matching engine BOSS 429. All correct BOSS 9 parts were used including all the correct markings and decals. From the Victor Gomez Collection.
Details: A very detailed, nut and bolt restoration was done by trained craftsmen. This paint job is great and all the panel gaps line up very nicely. The correct and matching numbers engine was restored back to original. The engine is very detailed and all correct BOSS 9 parts were used including all the correct markings and decals. The underside of the car is extremely nice and has correct primer with blue over-spray on the outside edge, just like when it was new. The complete drivetrain was rebuilt and then tested before installing on the car. It also has the correct 3.91 rear end gears. The interior is completely restored with either all new or refurbished parts. The glass is all correct dated new glass. The car has correct Magnum wheels with period correct tires. We take special pride on all the suspension. It is correct bare steel and the lower control arms were dipped in black semi-gloss paint to look exactly like new and all the correct markings are on these parts. This car was taken all the way down and then media blasted. Then we started from the ground up and meticulously detailed and put back to new condition. The trunk is very clean with the correct spare tire, inflator bottle and jack handle. If you pull back the trunk mat, you will see solid clean original metal. This car is just like new and actually the panel fitment and paint is better than new. If you are a collector of Fords, this would be the perfect car for your collection as the top muscle car Ford ever made. From the Victor Gomez Collection.
