2015 Ford Mustang

Popular Hot Rodding is the latest to take a crack at what they think the 2015 Mustang will look like, and have recently published a wide variety of renderings and sketches that show their vision of Ford’s next generation pony car. These aren’t the first renderings we’ve seen – they surely won’t be the last – but they do  provide an interesting new perspective on what could possibly be in store for the Mustang. J Mays, Ford’s Chief Creative Officer, has previously stated that the next generation Mustang will have less retro styling, and these new renderings depict that with a futuristic design that strays from the current retro shape.

So what else do we know about the 2015 Mustang as of right now? For starters, Ford plans on making the next generation Mustang a global car. Styling input will come from all of Ford’s design studios from around the world, as the new Mustang will need to be able competing in a variety of international markets. Overall the car will be smaller and lighter, and an independent rear suspension will replace the solid rear axle. The rumors of an EcoBoost four-cylinder as an option are also all but confirmed.

Take a look at the renderings and sketches below and leave us your thoughts on the design in the comments section.

Nah…looks too much like a camaro.

The second rendering (silver/grey side profile) is STUNNING. If Ford made this the ’15 Mustang they’d have a hit on their hands BIGGER than the ’05 Mustang. Do it, Ford, DO IT!

There are some cool elements within these sketches, but considering the poor track history all of the publications have when speculating future designs I can only assume Popular Hot Rodding had a slow news month.

The renderings were done by Sean Smith. Check out his other superb work here:

Cool sketches. We are still ayear or two away from seeing an official concept from Ford. I would like to see an SVT model similar to the SVO from the ’80s.

The last time Ford used “global” input for design, we got the 1979 Fox Mustang… They were cool cars, but lacked style! The Mustang is an American icon, no need for “global” input. Just syaing!!!

I agree with Paul, that side profile in silver is AMAZING. I sure hope Ford builds it exactly like that!

Nop, this is not the 2015 Mustang sorry!

Yeah, Sean’s designs are bland at best…they lack imagination and originality. Same old drawings, same rear ends, same profiles, just boring.

This sucks big to me..looks like something out of a Chevy Camaro bookstop. I started out in a 1968, then a 1972 Mach 1, a 2007 and now I am in a 12. I will not buy a newer one if they become this….disaster. Let it stay a American Designed Beast…Please!!!

Unless ford plans on making the mustang a 2 seater none of these sketches are even close. Sure the lines are sexy, but so impractical fora car that will be expected to sell 100,000 units a year.

This car would make me weriously consider trading in my Z-06
