Vaughn Gittin Jr’s Mustang RTR has teamed up with Performance Autosport for the 2012 American Iron season, with the team’s Mustang race car now featuring RTR body components and graphics as part of the new partnership. Performance Auto Sport has been part of the Ford and Mustang community for over 14 years and is home to the 2011 Mid-Atlantic American Iron Series Champion racecar and its driver, Chris Cobetto. Over the weekend, the PAS/ Cobetto Racing team took 1st place at Virginia International Raceway, making for a total of four wins this season.

“We are excited to partner up with the very well-respected Performance Autosport/Cobetto Racing Team,” says Vaughn Gittin Jr. “”We chose to work with PAS and make them a certified RTR installer because of their in-depth experience and expertise. They are very professional and without any question will give our customers the experience we expect them to receive.” Vaughn continues: “This partnership gives RTR the opportunity to continue its progression by testing and developing parts for the cars our customers can purchase at RTR dealers in real racing conditions. RTR is something I am very passionate about and it is very important we are out there competing and pushing our cars to the limit. “

It was only natural that RTR has chosen to be involved and support the American Iron series, since a production Mustang RTR with only a few standard race equipment upgrades and a good driver and team can be competitive.

“The fact that current and future RTR owners can now witness a variant of their car being successful in a Championship Series both in drifting as well as road racing is something we can all be excited about,” says Vaughn. ”It is our hope that through that excitement, they are inspired to go and have some fun on the track!”

“Vaughn Gittin Jr. has his finger on the pulse of the Mustang community and his passion is infectious,” says Mark LaMaskin, owner of Performance Auto Sport. “RTR knows what the enthusiast wants and gives it to them one hundred percent. The brand is always evolving and changing with the trends and needs of the Mustang enthusiast. That alone will help keep RTR relevant and successful for a long time to come.”

“It’s hard for me to contain my excitement about being a part of the Mustang RTR family,” says Chris Cobetto, 2011 Mid-Atlantic American Iron Champion and driver of the Performance Auto Sport Ford Mustang RTR. “The crew at RTR understands what appeals to those that simply love speed and traditional Mustang enthusiasts, as well as a new generation that might have never considered a Ford Mustang in the past. I want to win and I know that being a part of the RTR team increases my chance for champagne showers. “

Stay tuned as RTR is in the final steps of the prototyping phase for the brand new RTR package for all models of the new 2013 Ford Mustang . The RTR team is excited to introduce a very impressive street/track machine with the new Mustang RTR Spec 2 package.
