While there was no big news for the Ford Mustang at this year’s LA Auto Show – last year the 2013 Mustang, Boss 302 and Shelby GT500 made their debut – there were still plenty of Blue Oval pony cars out in force on the show floor. Hot on the heels of Steve Saleen regaining his namesake brand comes the first model announcement since the news was released. Making his announcement at the Los Angeles Auto Show, the well known man of Mustangs announced the Saleen 351 Mustang.
“Since regaining the Saleen brand, I really want to bring it all together with the heritage that Saleen is known for”, said Steve Saleen. “With the current Saleen [302] Mustang model it provides all the right features to bring back and update the S351 model.”

With the next generation Mustang slated for 2015, many people, us included, have been wondering what will Ford will do regarding a 50th anniversary model. Will Ford give the new 2015 Mustang the responsibility of celebrating a half century of uninterrupted production, or will they make the anniversary model for 2014? Modular Mustang Racing of Camarillo, CA has long been at the forefront of pushing the factory Ford engines to the limit. The company’s 2010 Mustang 10.5 Outlaw race car, powered by a twin-turbocharged version of the Shelby GT500′s 5.4-liter V8, could do quarter mile passes below seven seconds at well over 200 mph. After releasing the order guides for the 2014 Mustang and Shelby GT500 earlier this month, Ford has now finalized pricing for the new model year as well. For the most part there are small price increases across the board. Both the standard and Premium Mustang GT get an MSRP bump by $450 ($31,545 and $35,545, respectively), as does the Shelby GT500 with and without the SVT Performance Package ($55,445 and $58,940). Edelbrock has announced a new Coyote-based crate engine featuring their E-Force supercharger system good for 700 horsepower and 606 lb-ft torque.
