Southern California-based Pure Vision Design has built some pretty impressive classic Mustangs the past few years, from the 1969 Anvil Mustang that debuted at the 2010 SEMA Show to the Martini Racing-themed 1966 T-5R Mustang Fastback powered by an Indycar engine that the company showed off this past year. The company has several projects in the works as well, the latest being a 1970 Mustang Fastback inspired by the Ford GT40 race cars that competed at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the 1960s. From the rendering you can see that Mustang recalls the GT40′s legendary styling via the dual racing stripes and the 6-spoke knock-off wheels.

Each Pure Vision Design creation always has a special powerplant, and this 1970 Mustang Fastback will be no exception. Under the hood will be an aluminum big block 520 cid V8 built by John Kaase that will resemble the same engines that powered the GT40. Horsepower and torque will be directed through a clutchless 6-speed manual and a Heidts first-gen Camaro independent rear end converted to work with the Mustang. PVD also plans on installing JME’s front suspension system and a Flaming River steering rack.
