Shelby announces new 2005+ Mustang parts and accessories for the track
Shelby Performance Parts has introduced a new group of equipment to help enthusiasts gear up for the track as the spring season begins. The new parts add serious performance and safety to the 2005-2012 Ford Mustang and Shelby GT, 2007-2012 Shelby GT500 and the 2012-2013 Boss 302 vehicles. The fresh lineup features a Stainless Steel Cat-back and X-pipe exhaust system, Harness Bar engineered for track safety, 14” Front Rotors, and a Shelby Racing Jacket and Racing Helmet.
“With road courses across the country reopening after winter, now is the perfect time to prepare for upcoming track day sessions,” said Shelby Performance Parts Vice President Jer Gervasi. “We designed our newest products for easy home installation and to deliver a significant boost in performance. Each component undergoes intense testing before it can wear the Shelby brand.”
One of the most popular and significant upgrades that enthusiasts fit to their ride is a performance exhaust system to add horsepower and improve the engine note. Applicable to any 2006-2009 Mustang GT or Shelby GT, as well as the 2007-2009 GT500, the Shelby Borla Stainless Steel Cat-back and X-pipe system features a straight through, multi-core technology. It not only produces a delectable growl, it is engineered to improve horsepower and fuel economy. The ultra-smooth mandrel bends ensure a true 3” pipe diameter for maximum flow, while the computer-controlled CNC manufacturing provides an accurate fit. Each system is built from premium steel to provide superior performance and durability.
High performance is about more than horsepower. It is important to bring all that speed to a halt; the Shelby 14” Brembo Front Rotors will do just that. With a curved vane, directional drilled and slotted rotors, and zinc coated surfaces, this upgrade will seriously improve the stopping power and reduce the heat of any 2005-2012 Shelby or Mustang equipped with Brembo calipers, including Ford’s 2012-2013 Boss 302. The rotors feature a light weight two piece design and utilize NAS stainless steel hardware. Enthusiasts can install themselves without bleeding the brakes.
With a new power increasing exhaust system and upgraded rotors, enthusiasts are almost ready to hit the track. Safety, however, cannot be forgotten. SPP’s new Shelby Harness Bar allows for a variety of racing seat belts to be attached to it. A direct fit for 2005-2014 Mustangs, the harness bar is manufactured with the highest grade materials and comes in a silver powder coat finish with the famous Shelby badge centered. The kit comes with easy assembly and instillation instructions and requires simple hand tools.
Once a car is ready for battle on the track, it’s time add some style like the Shelby factory test drivers. The exclusive Shelby Racing Jacket features an inner lining made from high quality fabrics and a Nomex® outer shell. Shelby-specific logos are embroidered directly onto the outer layer, prior to final assembly, for a finished look. Manufactured in the United States, these jackets are not available anywhere else.
Pair the jacket with the professional Shelby Racing Helmet that is tailored specifically on each order for a snug fit. Sporting the Shelby logo and striping, the outer contact shell of each helmet is constructed from a low density, lightweight Z38 Fiberglass, Carbon, and Kevlar® composite blend. The helmet is then painted in a rich white or black gloss, finished off with a protective clear coating, then striped and logoed to match each customer’s Shelby. Engineered to be extremely durable, the helmet utilizes a vent system that siphons air through the chin bar ports, around the interior padding and out the top and rear vents to keep your head cool on the hot track.
