Rehagen Racing Moon Pie Mustang Boss 302R

Those who grew up in the South are no stranger to the phrase “RC Cola and a Moon Pie.” The combo of Southern delicacies was immortalized in Tracy Byrd’s “Lifestyles of the Not So Rich and Famous” (a country song, if you couldn’t tell), and it’s often said that two things “go together like an RC Cola and a Moon Pie” when describing a perfectly matched pair. Say, for example, the phrases “street legal” and “Mustang racecar,” as that’s exactly what you’ll find today on eBay Motors.

The #59 Moon Pie Mustang Boss 302 was born as a street-legal 2012 Mustang Boss 302 Laguna Seca that was wrecked, salvaged and rebuilt to 2013 Grand-Am Boss 302R specs by the road racing veterans and Mustang experts at Rehagen Racing. Because it was originally a street car it has a 17-digit VIN in addition to a laundry list of competition-ready modifications including a Roush Yates-prepped engine.

It won’t pass many states’ emissions standards, the racing harness is not approved for street use, and it doesn’t have airbags, but the car comes with a salvage title and could be registered for the street in some states. Better yet, it’s ready to race right now. You could Buy It Now for $120,000 and race it at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca—the car’s namesake course—next weekend. Rehagen Racing can even provide race support.

With Dean Martin, 2007 Shelby GT500 vehicle dynamics engineer and co-driver of the 2009 Grand-Am Champion Mustang, behind the wheel, the #59 Moon Pie Mustang recorded the 8th-fastest lap at Grand-Am Test Days in January and finished 20th in the Daytona race, 13th at Road Atlanta, and 8th at Mid-Ohio a little more than two months ago.

But now Moon Pie has decided to focus its advertising efforts on other motorsport formats, and the Moon Pie Mustang needs a new home…like an RC Cola needs a Moon Pie. Head on over to the eBay listing to read more about the car or put in your bid.
