Jack Roush Jr. set the fastest time in qualifying in the GTS class of the Pirelli World Challenge series earlier today in Long Beach, capturing pole position for tomorrow’s race. Not only did Roush get his first World Challenge pole position in just his second race, but he set a new track record in the GTS class with a time of 127.325. This is the first time a Ford Mustang has been on pole position since the late Paul Brown did it at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca back in 2011.

“From practice yesterday, I’ve been trying to learn the track, taking care of the car,” Roush said. “The crew did a great job on this Roush Ford Mustang. I’m pleasantly surprised. I know tomorrow won’t be easy but so proud of this crew and all this effort.”

Tony Buffomante in the No. 33 Capaldi Racing Ford Racing Ford Mustang Boss 302S was the next top qualifying Mustang in fourth, while Alec Udell (6th) and David Sterckx (9th) were also in the top ten.
