After announcing the updated 2014 Mustang Cobra Jet earlier this year, Ford Racing completed the first test session of the development car last week at South Georgia Motorsports Park in Adel, GA. Muscle Mustang and Fast Fords editor Evan Smith and Ford Racing chassis engineer Andy Vrenko served as test drivers, making several passes with the latest Cobra Jet and helping to gather valuable data that will be used to continue to improve the car’s performance on track.

A contingent of Ford Mustangs Boss 302S race cars headed to Long Beach this past weekend for the third round of the SCCA Pirelli World Challenge series. Of particular note was the series debut of the Always Evolving race team, who brought out two brand new Boss 302S race cars for the event. Team drivers Erik Davis and Roger Rodas are rookies in the World Challenge, although they have competed in a variety of series previously. Shelby first announced a widebody kit for the 2005-2009 Mustang back in December, and a similar package for the 2010+ Mustang a month later at the Detroit Auto Show in the form of an 850 horsepower GT500 Super Snake. At the time we asked company representatives if the widebody kit would be available for the Shelby 1000, and the answer was a resounding yes. Before Barrett-Jackson’s Scottsdale auction started last week we told you about a custom 2013 Shelby GT500 that would be given away by SPEED TV as part of their Hagerty Fantasy Bid Competition. All you needed to do to get a chance at winning the car was simply enter the contest, and SPEED would randomly pick a winner from the entrants. The contest has since come and gone, but not before we tracked the car down in the auction tent and snapped some photos of it.

Last month we reported that Shelby had launched a new widebody kit for the 2005-2009 Mustang, allowing owners to add an extra six inches to the rear and three inches to the front of their cars. The kit includes front and rear fenders constructed of high-quality fiberglass, 20×10 front and 20×13 rear wheels and 265/35/R20 front and 345/35/R20 rear tires.
