Joe Foster earned his second GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge Grand Sport pole position of the season Friday at Lime Rock Park and will lead a 25-car GS field to the green flag in Saturday’s Memorial Day Weekend Classic. Foster turned in a time of 57.823 seconds (95.256 mph) in the No. 15 Ford Racing/Multimatic Motorsports Ford Mustang Boss 302R he shares with Scott Maxwell. Foster will be joined on the front row by Bret Spaude, who set a time of 58.169 seconds (94.690 mph) in the No. 35 Subaru of America Subaru WRX STI. Last race’s winner, the Roush Performance Mustang Boss 302R, qualified fourth.

The next goal for Foster and other Mustang drivers is to stop the BMW dominance at the 1.53-mile, seven-turn track. BMWs have won all five GS races at Lime Rock, following the series’ first visit to Lime Rock in 2006.

“We just made a couple of quick setup changes right after the prior practice and they worked perfectly,” Foster said. “It’s not stuff that we can use for a race distance, but for three laps it was fine. Honestly, I just kind of scared myself over the entire one lap; it was perfect.”
