2013 Shelby GT500: 0-60 mph in 3.5 sec, 1/4 mile in 11.6 sec @ 126 mph

Many of the reviews of the 2013 Shelby GT500 posted yesterday listed various 1/4 mile times from 11.8 to low 12 seconds achieved during a brief test session at Atlanta Dragway. Motor Trend, however, was able to get more time with the car to get a full set of performance numbers, and the results are impressive. The magazine recorded a 0-60 mph time of 3.5 seconds, 0-100 mph in 7.7 seconds, and the 1/4 mile in 11.6 seconds at 125.7 mph. This falls exactly in line with Muscle Mustang & …

2015 Ford Mustang rendered…again

The speculation regarding the design of the 2015 Ford Mustang continues with AutoGuide.com the latest to publish a rendering of what they think the styling of the next generation Mustang will be. Like the renderings posted by InsideLine.com earlier this month, the new speculative design includes styling cues from the Ford Evos Concept unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show last year.
This latest rendering, however, has many more retro Mustang elements in the design including a more prominent rear quarter window and an upper and lower grille inspired by the current …

2013 Shelby GT500 reviews hit the web

The embargo has lifted and the very first reviews of the 2013 Shelby GT500 have flooded the internet. Both magazines and web sites alike seem to agree that Ford and SVT have improved the GT500 in just every way, from the increased horsepower and torque from the new supercharged 5.8-liter V8 to the larger 15-inch Brembo brakes to the optional adjustable suspension system co-developed with Bilstein. Perhaps what’s most surprising, though, is the general consensus that Ford has made the new GT500 so refined and easy to drive. Here’s what …

Video: Jay Leno drives the 2013 Shelby GT500

Jay Leno is one lucky man. Besides owning dozens of awesome cars, he often gets the chance to drive vehicles before anyone else. That’s the case with the 2013 Shelby GT500, as Leno was the first person outside of Ford employees to get behind the wheel. Thankfully he loves to share his experiences with the rest of us, and has just posted a video with the new Shelby on Jay Leno’s Garage.
Leno is about as big a fan of Ford as anyone – you can see his 1965 Shelby GT350 …

Video: 2013 Shelby GT500 underrated, dyno tests at 609 rwhp

When Ford announced the 2013 Shelby GT500 back in November the new aluminum block 5.8-liter V8 was initially rated at an astounding 650 horsepower. As if that weren’t enough, Ford updated the rating last month to 662 horsepower and 631 lb-ft torque. However, it looks like those numbers aren’t necessarily a true reflection of the new GT500′s horsepower rating, as recently found out by Steve Turner, editor-in-chief of 5.0 Mustang & Super Fords magazine, at the press launch for the car last week.
In between laps at Road Atlanta and making …

Artist gives 1999 Ford Mustang custom graphics with a Sharpie

There are various methods to changing the look of your Mustang, from paint to vinyl graphics to complete vehicle wraps, but this latest method is perhaps one of the most creative we’ve ever seen. Artist Chris Dunlop, known as Pinstripe Chris, specializes in customizing cars with a Sharpie marker. That’s right, Chris actually draws graphics freehand onto cars. His latest project is the 1999 Ford Mustang you see here, which features Dunlop’s artwork on the hood, front fenders, roof and trunk. The graphics took nearly 50 hours to complete and …

Video: 2013 Shelby GT500 burnout

The 2013 Shelby GT500 media drive is this week at Road Atlanta, and while the reviews are embargoed for a later date, MotorAuthority.com is giving us a preview of what we can expect. The web site today posted a video of a 2013 GT500 doing one of the things it does best: shred tires. With 662 horsepower and 631 lb-ft torque on tap the Shelby easily overpowers the rear tires, making for a smokey burnout and a pair of black streaks left on the pavement.
Of course, that doesn’t mean the …

One-off Roush Stage 3 Mustang raises $100,000 for charity at auction

Last night a one-off Mustang built by Roush Performance and Ford Racing was auctioned off at the SAE Foundation’s 25th anniversary celebration at Ford Field in Detroit, MI. The final bid for the car was $100,000, with the proceeds being donated to benefit the SAE Foundation’s STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) education programs. The price tag is a relative bargain compared to other custom Mustangs that have recently been offered up for charity like the Blue Angels Mustang that sold for $400,000 at EAA AirVenure or the one-off School …
